'No Bag Day' in schools soon in Telangana

Hyderabad Jan 6: In a move to bring relief for students in Telangana the state government is planning to introduce 'No bag day ' in Schools.NBD would be a day in a week or month where students are requested not to carry school bags and The day would contain fewer classes and more time would be dedicated to extra circular activities.

Sources said that government may mandate every Saturday or at least one day in a month and instruct school management to follow the new rules. Director of School Education, G Kishan on Friday had said that "Even though guidelines were issued, several students continue to carry all books. The Directorate plans to introduce 'no bag day' and a proposal is being prepared."

Earlier the government had capped the weight of the school bags that should be carried by children after many parents have complained that children were suffering from back pain.However, the parents feel that no bag day would help their children to concentrate on sports at least one day in a week.
