Revanth Reddy alleges CM KCR over 24Hr Power supply for Agriculture

Hyderabad, Jan 03: The Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy alleged on Tuesday that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was extending 24- hour free power supply to the agriculture sector in the state only for benefiting private power companies.

Talking to media persons here, Mr. Reddy said that there was no need to supply the 24-hour power supply to the agriculture sector in the state because 90 percent of farmers in the state having one to five acres of agriculture land. The nine-hour power supply in the daytime is enough for them, he claimed and said there was no need to supply free power for 24 hours, he said.

Mr Reddy accused that the state government for wantedly supplying 24 hours power supply to the agriculture sector by purchasing power from the private sector by spending thousands of crores.

He said that the power situation has been improved in the state with the efforts of the then Congress government and former Party President Ms Sonia Gandhi.

As per request of the State Congress, Ms Sonia Gandhi had suggested incorporating in the AP Reorganization Act to allocate 53.89 percent of power to Telangana based on utilization instead of population. As per population basis, it should be 42 percent for Telangana and 58 percent for Andhra Pradesh.

Moreover, the Central government also allocated more power to the state under Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY) Scheme. Several power projects which were started in Congress regime has started producing power now. The TRS Government has done nothing in this regard, Mr. Reddy said.

Mr. Reddy also cautioned Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan not to fall on Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao's trap.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan who met Mr. Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday appreciated his achievement of providing 24x7 power to agriculture sector free of cost, which is a first-of-its-kind feat in the entire country.
