CBI,ED to approach High Court against 2G Judgement

NewDelhi Dec 22: The Enforcement Directorate has decided to approach the high court to appeal against the verdict delivered by CBI special court on Thursday. The court on Thursday has acquitted A Raja Former Telecom minister, DMK Member Kanimozhi in the 2G Spectrum case.

The Judge has said that the CBI had failed to prove that the accused were guilty.However, the ED officials have said that "we would soon approach the High Court against the judgment and would submit the evidence against the accused in the case".

Earlier ED in its charge-sheet had alleged that former telecom minister A Raja had received illegal gratification of Rs 200 crore for favoring Swan Telecom Private Ltd to receive 13 telecom licenses and related airwaves in 2008-09.

"The money, it had alleged, was paid by the DB Group owned by Shahid Balwa, and routed through partner companies and Kalaignar TV, owned by MP Kanimozhi and Dayalu Ammal, one of the wives of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi."ED added in its charge sheet.

CBI had also responded and said that It would also appeal against the verdict in the Delhi High court.
