Telugu Poets Devi Priya and Venna Vallabha Rao won Sahithya Academy Awards

Hyderabad Dec 22: In yet another recognition for Telugu poets Devi Priya and Venna Vallabha Rao have won prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2017. The Awards were announced on Thursday and will be presented in February next year.

Poet and writer Devi Priya had won the Award for his book 'Gaali Rangu'. The writer is also a journalist, a well-known cartoonist and is noted for his socially-conscious contributions to the literary world.

Another writer Venna Vallabha Rao got the award under 'translation' category for his 'Viramam Erugani Payanam', which is a translation of the Punjabi book 'Khanabadosh', an autobiography of Ajith Kaur.

Dr. Venna Vallabha Rao is popular for his translation works. He has completed his MA Hindi from Andhra University and has worked as a Hindi professor.He has translated many Akashvani National plays in Telugu and Hindi.Vallabha Rao has also translated eight different Telugu literature works into Hindi and seven Hindi literature works into Telugu.
