Telangana Contribution in Income tax doubled in past 5 years

New Delhi Dec 21: The income tax department has released the data of taxpayers for past 5 years.According to the data released

# 4.1 crore Indians filed income tax returns in 2014-15.
# 2 crore of total taxpayers declared zero taxable income in 2014
# 2 crore people paid average annual income tax of Rs 42,456
# 1 Crore paid income tax of more than Rs 1 lakh.

The number of taxpayers in Telangana have doubled in last 5 years from 2010-11 to 2016-17

The data has also revealed that less than 10,000 Indians have taxable income of over Rs 1 crore . Maharastra and Delhi pay 50 % of the Income-tax.Only one person declared his income above Rs 100 cr and paid Rs 238 CR tax and 376 companies declared their income above Rs 100 crore

The Telangana Officials have said that "the contribution of the state has doubled because of the bifurcation of the state and more people have settled in Hyderabad and their wealth had increased because of the growing economy and this has lead to increase in contribution."
