Customer Consent Mandatory for DBT :UIDAI

New Delhi Dec 20: In a move to ensure that transparency is maintained in the direct benefit transfer the UIDAI the Aadhar agency in a notification had made the customer consent for transferring Gas subsidy into customers bank accounts.

The UIDAI has said that "NPCI shall allow override request pertaining to an Aadhaar holder only if it is accompanied by the name of his current bank on the APB (Aadhaar Payment Bridge) mapper and confirmation from the requesting bank that it has obtained the requisite consent of the Aadhaar holder for switching to the requesting bank on the mapper."

The Notification further added that "Banks shall send a request for mapping of a new account or overriding an existing bank account to NPCI only after taking explicit informed consent of their customers."

The Notification allows customers to choose the bank account to which Subsidy can be transferred and not the last bank account which was linked and the banks would transfer subsidy after a written consent letter is submitted by the customer.
