NGT clarifies about silent zone of Amarnath cave

Amarnath Dec 14: In a Major relief for Hindu pilgrims the NGT had clarified about the declaration of the silent zone of the Amarnath cave and said the silent restriction would apply only to the portion where God is present and not other parts.

NGT said that the silence restriction will not apply on Aarti and other rituals. The green tribunal chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar said that "the only restriction is that devotees will maintain silence in front of Shivlinga, not applicable to any other part."

The clarification assumes significance because National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday has declared the cave as a silent zone and barred chanting mantras or ringing bells in the temple.

The Tribunal had also said that "the Amarnath Shrine Board should ensure that proper infrastructural facilities are provided to the pilgrims so that they are not deprived of a clear darshan and the ecology of the area is maintained."
