Liquor worth crores seized in Gujarat ahead of Elections

Gandhinagar Dec 13: The Campaign for Assembly elections in Gujarat has been completed yesterday and the second phase of polling would take place tomorrow. Currently, there is a ban on sales of liquor in the state however the dry state has once begun flooding with liquor as the elections have approached.

Sources said that police and EC officials have seized Country made liquor worth Rs 30.6 lakhs and Indian-made foreign liquor worth Rs 23.50 crores between October 25 to December 12.Other items like vehicles worth Rs 29.16 crores have also been seized and at least 26,913 people have been arrested till now.

The first phase of the polls took place on Dec 9 and the counting would take place on the Dec 18.Meanwhile, EC has said that all arrangements have been made for tomorrow polls.
