China Alerts its citizens in Pakistan over possible terror attacks

Islamabad Dec 8: In a measure to ensure safety of its citizens China had alerted its Embassy in Islamabad and said that there might be possible terror attacks on Chinese in Pakistan.

Sources said that a confidential information regarding the attacks was received by the Embassy stating that terrorists were planning "a series of attacks soon" against Chinese.

Currently, there are 40,000 Chinese living in Pakistan and majority of them have landed in the country for participating in the construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a project built under the
Belt and Road Initiative.

The alerts of attacks assume significance because earlier there were reports that China has stalled the project because of financial problems and some technical issues. The warnings had also indicated that China must cooperate in the completion of the project so that it would be useful for both the countries.
