ED Attaches properties of Lalu Prasad Yadav

Patna Dec 8: In a major to blow RJD chief and former Bihar Cheif Minister the Enforcement Directorate on Friday attached a three-acre plot in Patna belonging to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family. The ED has attached the property in connection with a money-laundering probe into the 2006 IRCTC hotel maintenance contract case.

The department officials have said that "The agency has attached the three-acre plot in Patna on which a mall was being built." Earlier the agency has questioned Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) chief's wife Rabri Devi and his son Tejashwi Yadav in this case.

The Enforcement Directorate had registered a case under the PMLA and is probing the trail of funds allegedly transferred through shell companies.

The CBI registered a corruption case on July 5 against Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav for alleged irregularities in the allotment of contracts for two Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotels in Ranchi and Puri in 2006 to a private firm when the RJD chief was the Railway Minister.
