Cyclone Ockhi turns low pressure in  Arabian sea

Surat Dec 6: In a major relief for Gujarat the cyclone OCKHI has dissipated into the Arabian sea and lost its intensity and has turned into a low pressure. earlier there were reports that the cyclone would hit the surat coast and high alert was announced.

IMD has said that "the cyclonic storm first turned into a 'deep depression', then into a 'depression' and finally into a 'low pressure' area after midnight."

The department has added that " The depression over east-central and adjoining north-east Arabian Sea weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over east central Arabian sea ."

However IMD has added that Gujarat and Maharsthra would receive moderate rainfalls in next 12 hours and urged fishermen not to go to sea .

Earlier 39 people and 167 Fishermen of Kerala and Tamilnadu were missing . The cyclone had shown its impact on Srilanka and the maximum impact was felt in Kanyakumari and Lakshwadweep islands as hit the coasts.
