Students oppose Assistant Professors Recruitment in PJTSAU

Hyderabad Dec 3: The notification ( dt: 19.08.2017) issued by Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) to recruit Assistant Professors in various Departments has been opposed by many students as they objected the notification and the eligibility criteria mentioned for recruitment of the posts.

PJTSAU has invited online applications for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in various Departments under different Faculties including Food Process Technology and Food Process Engineering under the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.

Eligibility criteria

The notification has specified that "A Master’s degree in the subject (discipline) concerned with at least 55 % marks or its equivalent from any State Agricultural University/Central Agricultural University/Central University with Agriculture Faculty/ICAR Deemed University/IIT's".

Food Technology students disappointed

Many Food Technology students, who have acquired Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Engineering & Technology from prestigious State Universities / Deemed Universities /Research Institutes / National Institutes are not eligible for the interview as per this notification and this is related to their future.

Students from Osmania University, University of Mysore, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), CSIR- CFTRI, NIT’s and NIFTEM etc are few of them were declared ineligible for an interview and they expressed their disappointment.

Moreover, students, who have qualified ICAR-NET, have also been neglected. According to ASRB (ICAR) - "National Eligibility Test (NET) is a qualifying examination for determining eligibility for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs)".

Candidates clearing the National Eligibility Test stand eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs but the students with above qualification were also declared ineligible.

Finally, students have demanded that the recruitment process must be halted till the issue is resolved and they said that they would also approach higher authorities and court if necessary so that they would be benefitted.

However, the officials have categorically denied the protests by the students.
