Hyderabad Metro day 1- Nearly 1 lakh people enjoyed travel

Hyderabad Nov 30 : Hyderabad Metro services were opened to the public yesterday and people have thronged to experience the first metro journey.

Officials have said that nearly 1-2 lakh people have traveled on the first day from Nagole to Miyapur with 18 trains running at a frequency of 15 minutes.

Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao tweeted that "Delighted that Hyderabadis have welcomed Hyderabad Metro in a big way. I am told it’s more than 2 lakhs".



Many people have come to enjoy the ride at early 5 am even though the train services started at 6 Am and later the crowd has picked up at various metro stations and they felt happy.

However, the Ameerpet metro station was crowded as it was interchange station and some people were confused while others expressed fares were somewhat high .

"It has been an incident-free operation today and by 10 pm we expect over 1 lakh passengers". said HMRL Managing Director N V S Reddy.
