'Pink Promise' diamond sold for huge price

Hong Kong Nov 29: In a Rare event,'Pink Promise' a special oval diamond was auctioned in Hong Kong on Tuesday.The specialty of the diamond is that it is a 14.93-carat pink gemstone.

Sources said that the diamond was sold to an unidentified phone bidder for an unexpected amount of US $32.16 million.

Auctioneers Christie's said that "it was the second highest price per carat paid for a pink diamond, next to the five-carat 'Vivid Pink' which sold in Hong Kong for $10.78 million in 2009."



Earlier the Auctioneers hoped that the diamond would fetch US $42 million, however, the diamond was sold at the lower price as there were no bidders for the diamond.

Sources said that many other items were also auctioned but the diamond was a special attraction.
