Telangana adopted blockchain Technology: Jayesh Ranjan

Hyderabad, Nov 27: The Telangana Government has adopted 'blockchain Technology' on a pilot basis to enhance the security of its digitized revenue/land records in the state, State IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said here today.

Addressing 'GAMBIT', a conference on Bitcoins and Domains and Gaming Space here, Mr. Ranjan said that we are also planning to deploy Blockchain technology in the transportation sector and digitilizing health records.

Though several state governments, including Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, have started evaluating the technology for purposes of e-governance, Telangana government is the first in the country to embrace Blockchain Technology, he said and added the move(Blockchain Technology) is aimed at ensuring that the state government's data is tamper-proof and secure, especially since the entire land records purification exercise is being completed by the end of December this year.

Blockchain, widely known as the technology driving digital currency bitcoins, is a distributed database technology for storing continuously growing records.

Blockchains are secure by design as data is kept in 'blocks' that cannot be tampered with.
