Telangana Receives Best performing state in Organ Donation

Hyderabad Nov 27: The Telangana State government has got another recognition as National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) has chosen Telangana's Jeevandan organ donation scheme as the best performing organ donation drive in the country.

NOTTO has said that "Following the survey of various organ donation programmes, which are under implementation, we chose Telangana's scheme."

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda has presented the award for 'Best Performing State' in organ donation drive to Jeevandan in-charge Dr. G Swarnalatha at the 8th Indian Organ Donation Day celebrations held in New Delhi on Monday.

Sources said that the Jeevandan organ donation scheme was launched in 2013 and till date has retrieved 1075 organs from 414 deceased organ donors. Also, this year, Jeevandan has achieved 127 donations, which is the highest since its inception.
