Industries Minister KTR assured Sugarcane farmers

Hyderabad, Nov 23: The Telangana Minister for Industries KT Rama Rao has requested the sugar factories on Wednesday to pay the remunerative price to sugarcane farmers in the State.

The Minister, who held a review meeting with Sugarcane Development Societies' chairmen and factory management at the State Secretariat, pointed out that due to the good monsoon, farmers in the State had cultivated sugarcane in large areas and 24 lakh tonnes of sugarcane had already reached markets for crushing.

Mr. Rao assured all support to sugarcane farmers from the State government. "As in the case of other industries, the government is ready to lend a helping hand to sugarcane industries also, but factory management should take farmer-friendly decisions," the Minister said, adding that the government will provide drip irrigation system to sugarcane farmers under Agriculture Mechanization Scheme.

Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Yellareddy legislator Y Ravinder Reddy and department officials participated in the meeting.
