Majid , the footballer who joined LeT returned on mother's request

Majid Khan, 20 year old Kasmiri man who had joined the Let militant group, surrendered to police after his mother's tearful video in which she appealed for his return, widely spread on social media.

Majid was a bright student and a popular football goalkeeper before he joined LeT. He reportedly took up arms after a close friend was killed in a shootout with security forces this year.

A photograph of Khan brandishing an AK 47 rifle was shared widely on social media last week, leaving his parents distraught. His mother sent him a message through video in which she asked him to return. The video was widely shared on Social media and reached Majid.

Two local news agencies have reported that Mahmood Shah, a self-styled chief of LeT in Jammu and Kashmir, has said that Khan was “permitted” to leave on the request of his mother.
