Mumbai Nov 17: The New Telecom Operator Reliance JIo has decided to disrupt one more field that is retail sector. The company has decided to enter the retail business and to integrate the e-Commerce with offline retail stores.

The Company has started tying up with Kirana's and local retail shops so that customers can buy goods at discounted rates by using Jio Money the company's payment portal.

Currently, JIo has a base of 140 million subscribers and the base is set to expand rapidly in the coming days as the company has launched Jiophone a cheapest 4G feature phone for an effective price of 0 and a security deposit of Rs 1500.

The company has already distributed 60 lakh phones in the first phase and this expansion would become a successful model for entering retail business.

The company has chosen to tie up with street end retail end shops which are huge in number and many people visit them compared to huge malls and large retail stores where there is huge competetion among them and goods are already available at lower prices because of market forces.

Experts say that the entry of Jio into would disrupt both e-commerce and offline brick and mortar stores and predict that it would help more small retail shop owners and help them to convert into formal economy and would result in the rise of the digital transaction and turn into a less cash society.
