Small girl sexually assaulted, babysitter arrested

New Delhi, Nov 14: A 21-year-old babysitter has been arrested for sexually assaulting a one-and-a-half-year-old girl here, police said on Tuesday.

Santosh Roy was arrested from a hideout on Monday evening after the victim's mother complained to police.

"Roy sexually abused the minor when her parents left for their workplace. When her mother returned in the evening, she found the victim crying and bleeding... She took her to a hospital where doctors found she had been sexually assaulted," a police officer said.

Roy is a colleague of the victim's father in a private security company and lives with the victim's family in a rented accommodation in Shahpur Jat in south Delhi, the officer said.

"Roy used to come home early in the morning after night duty while the victim's parents left for their work and her two siblings left for school in the morning. Roy used to babysit the minor," the officer said.

The victim has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, police said.

Roy, who is unmarried, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
