AP Govt approves to setup Science City in Tirupati

Tirupati, Nov 12: The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of a Science City in Tirupati here on Saturday, which will have innovation centers, educational and research institutes, and museums.

It will be a hub for interdisciplinary science and technological research, with centers in Tirupati, Amaravati, and Visakhapatnam.

Each science center will have a science museum, a research and development innovation center, and a convention center.

The first science center/museum will be developed in Tirupati. The establishment of a Science City is a collaboration between the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Government of India and the Government of A.P. It is aimed to develop it as a model facility spread in about 107 acres, for which a sum of Rs.100 crore has been sanctioned initially.

The Science City consists of a museum of arts and sciences; air, space, and defense museum; children's museum; planetarium with IMAX theatre; media museum; human evolution museum; and anthropology and indoor rainforest museum.
