Delhi: Odd-even cancelled; cannot compromise on women safety

The odd-even scheme which was to be implemented from Monday was called off on Saturday.

The Delhi government took this decision as the Naional Green Tribunal ordered to withdraw all exemptions including two-wheeler riders and women-only vehicles.

Transport minister Kailash Gahlot said that the government is not ready to compromise on women safety after NGT order to remove all exemtions except emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders.

Earlier this week, the Delhi government had announced implementation of the odd-even scheme from November 13-17, given the high level of smog in the capital. Schools were also shutdown till Sunday.
