Modi and Sheikh Hasina flags off New Delhi- Dhaka train service

The cross country rail service between India and Banglaesh i.e is the train connecting New Delhi and Dhaka was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, today. They flagged off the Khulna-Kolkata train service and opened two bridges on railway routes connecting Dhaka with Sylhet and Chittagong.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also joined the inauguration through videoconferencing from West Bengal as the two leaders took part in the function from their offices in New Delhi and Dhaka.

PM Hasina opened the projects from her official Ganabhaban residence, while Modi inaugurated the schemes from his office in New Delhi. They also launched an "end to end" immigration and customs facilities of Dhaka-Kolkata "Maitree Express" train service and second Bhairab railway bridge and Titas railway bridge.

Sheikh Hasina said "Bangladesh-India relations are in fact setting new high standards of bilateral cooperation in the region and beyond", she added.

"I am sure we would be having many more similar, happy occasions in the days ahead for the greater benefit of our people...I look forward to working with your Excellency in our joint endeavour," she said.
