Man held for cheating congress MLC leader

Hyderabad, Nov 9: The Task Force Police have arrested a man on Wednesday, who cheated over 30 public representatives after duping Congress MLC, Akula Lalitha, conning her for Rs 10 lakh.

The arrested identified as T Balaji Naidu, a dismissed NTPC employee, contacted MLC Lalitha and introduced himself as an officer from the Secretariat and informed her that she failed to utilize Rs.2 crore of central govt sanctioned funds.

To release the un-utilized funds, she first needs to pay Rs.10 lakh. The MLC asked her son Deepak to transfer the money to an HDFC account, as informed by the culprit. Once the money was transferred, Balaji switched off his mobile.

She then lodged a complaint with Cyberabad police and registered a case. During the investigation, Cyberabad police alerted Hyderabad police, who nabbed him in Tenali in Guntur district.To their shock, they discovered that the culprit was, in fact, Balaji Naidu, a repeat offender.

The culprit had been using the same modus operandi since 2008. In January 2016, PD Act was invoked against Balaji and he was in jail until January 2017.After getting released from jail, Balaji started targeting public representatives again.
