Cartoonist Bala gets bail

Chennai, November 06: A Judicial Magistrate Court in Tirunelveli granted bail, on Monday, to cartoonist
G. Bala (36) who was arrested by the District Crime Branch police in Chennai on Sunday.

Earlier, He made a cartoon against the Govt in recent immolation usury victim P. Esakkimuthu and his wife and two children on the Collectorate premises.

The Picture went viral on the social media, in which some of the users has shared the pic near about 38000 timed on Internet.



Following the publication of the cartoon, Bala was booked under Indian Penal Code Section 501 (Printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and Section 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information and Technology (IT) Act.

After his release on bail today, Bala told the media, "I am also a journalist. I did not commit murder. don't regret for this cartoon. I will continue to highlight the inefficiency of the government through my cartoon. I will continue to draw cartoons.
