TS-Food Processing Policy released

NewDelhi Nov 5: In a move to ensure Telangana becomes a Food processing Hub and the farmers income in the state gets doubled Telangana State Food processing Minister K Taraka Rama Rao
has unveiled TS-Food processing Policy in New Delhi during World Food India Conference.

The Main specialties of the policy are

# The policy, which will be in force for next five years.

# realizing investments worth Rs 20,000 crore in the food processing sector in the State.

# Creation of 1.25 lakh direct jobs.

# District-specific processing industries like turmeric and spices in Nizamabad, sugarcane in Medak, sweet citrus fruits in Nalgonda.

# Establishment of food processing clusters and food parks.

# linkage of food processing with agriculture, horticulture, dairy, meat and other food production sectors for improving income of farmers

# Optimum usage of existing schemes like sheep rearing, dairy farming and fish cultivation for the promotion of food processing sector.

# To create a value chain of farm and other food products to boost food processing capacity of the State by at least 20 percent

# An AgriTech fund to be created for promoting startups in the food processing sector.

Speaking at the event KTR has said that "the new policy would enable the government to interlink the food processing sector with agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, dairy, meat and other food production sectors for improving the income of farmers".
