NHRC to include egg and milk in ICDS and mid day meal

The National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) has come up with the suggestion of including more protein-rich food in the mid-day meal which is served in all states under mid-day meal schemes and Integrated Child Development(ICDS).

According to NHRC, the meals served under this schemes does not contain an adequate amount of proteins which must be present in meals according to standard requirement.

The suggestion of including Milk and eggs which are rich in protein and good for health came from NHRC. The suggestion was put forward during a conference held this Friday by the NHRC on the implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013.
