Niti Aayog recomends closure of 34 sick PSUs

New Delhi Oct 27: In a move to garner more funds the government's think-tank Body NITI AAyog has recommended the closure of 34 sick PSU companies.Earlier the Prime Minister Office has directed the think thank body to prepare a roadmap for the disinvestment of sick PSUs.

Speaking at Crisil India Infrastructure Conclave in Delhi Niti Aayog CEO Amitab Kant has said that "We have recommended 34 sick PSUs for strategic disinvestment".He added that "The government has budgeted to raise Rs72,500 crore through stake sale in PSUs in the current fiscal
. This includes Rs46,500 crore from minority stake sale, Rs15,000 crore from strategic disinvestment and Rs11,000 crore from listing of PSU insurance companies."



However Kant didnt reveal any names of the companies he has suggested for closure. earlier FM Jaitley in his budget speech has announced that Niti Aayog would prepare a roadmap for the
disinvestment of PSU".

Public Sector Undertakings are the companies in which government fully owns(100 % share) or a majority of the stake (51 %).
