Centre appoints interlocutor Sharma for sustained dialogue in J&K

NewDelhi Oct 24: The union government in a move to find a solution for Kashmir problem has yesterday appointed former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma as its special representative for a sustained dialogue with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has made this announcement and has said that "Sharma will have complete independence in deciding who to hold talks with".

he has made the above comments in a reply to a question whether the newly appointed officer would have talks with the separatist Hurriyat Conference.

Minister has also said that "Sharma is a 1979-batch IPS officer who served in the state in the 1990s and retired last year, would initiate sustained interactions and dialogue to understand the legitimate aspirations of people, especially the youth, and try to fulfill them, he will hold talks with all sections of people and organisations".

Many experts have hailed the move and said that this would ensure that peace would be maintained in the Kashmir valley.
