Google offers $1000 reward for finding lapses in play store App

Washington Oct 21: In a Move to improve the user experience and upgrade the security of the play store Google has announced a reward of $1,000 (Rs 65,000).Google will partner with HackerOne, a bug bounty programme management website which enables the company to target a list of apps and flaws in the Play store which are vulnerable to virus attack.

Vineet Buch, director of product management for Google Play Apps and Games has said that "software scans cannot match a person's ability to discover "a truly creative hack. We don't just care about our own apps, but rather the overall health of the ecosystem .It's like offering a reward for a missing person even if you don't know who the missing person is personally."

Finally, he added that "the Google Play Security Reward Program effectively sponsors research into software created by other companies. Bug bounties by Microsoft Corp, Apple and Alphabet have been awarded only for tracing flaws in their own software."

However, there are reports that the programme would be restricted to a few developers to get the feedback.
