High Expectations in Studies -A mass mentality

Whenever a problem grips the psyche of society, the government steps in and try to solve it with urgency. The officials call for meetings, discussions take place and in the end, some rules, regulations will come into existence. Recently some students of corporate schools, colleges, hostels, resorted to suicides. This became an eye opener for parents and educational secretary-level officers came forward to address the problem. They formed guidelines for the Hostels and colleges, ordered to follow them.

How far these guidelines will be followed by the management of these schools, colleges is doubtful. We have to call this tendency of parents paying huge amounts for such education, as either greed or ambition.Naturally every parent wishes for the future of children. But nowadays the purchasing power of employees has increased multifold, compared to that, a couple of decades ago.

Looking at the government employees or employees of prominent private companies, getting their wards admitted in renowned institutions, others also are now imitating them.

The Purchasing power of many people has increased more than 25 to 30 times in the past 20-30 years.Every Parent wants his son or daughter to occupy a big position in society. They want to see their sons and daughters become IAS like officers, doctors, big engineers, commanding respect in society. In doing so they lack the common sense to note that a few high-level posts in government or a limited number of seats in Medicine, IIT like streams of education.

Parents pay more than Rs 10 lakh fees in private colleges and educate their children, but do not care for government colleges where everything is at minimum fees.People want to become lecturers, teachers in government colleges, but they don't join their children there. Why this Irony? When they don't gauge their child's capacity in studies and expect more it is nothing but mass mentality. This trend needs rectification.
