Chidambaram slams Election Commission

New Delhi, October 20: Former Union Minister P Chidambaram has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) here on Today.

He criticised the Election Commission (EC) for not announcing the dates for the upcoming Assembly polls in Gujarat.

"EC has authorized PM to announce the date of Gujarat elections at his last rally (and kindly keep EC informed)," he tweeted.



A day after Diwali, the senior Congress leader tweeted, "EC will be recalled from its extended holiday after Gujarat Govt has announced all concessions and freebies."

Responding to the tweets, The Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Friday said that Chidambaram's comment on the Election Commission is not appropriate.

Rupani said the "Congress is scared of Bharatiya Janata Party that is why Chidambaram is giving such statements."
