Hyderabad Airport bags Worlds No.1 Airport Award

Hyderabad, Oct 18: : The Greater Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), which operates Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here announced on Wednesday that it has received the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Service Quality (ASQ) World No. 1 Airport award trophy in the 5-15 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category.

SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL received the trophy from Angela Gittens, Director General, Airports Council International and Bongani Maseko, CEO, Airports Company South Africa during the27th ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference & Exhibition in Port Louis, Mauritius on Tuesday.

The trophy was formally handed over following the announcement by the Airports Council International (ACI) in its worldwide Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey for the year 2016, ranking RGIA as the 'World's No. 1 Airport' in the 5-15 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category in March 2017. This year's ACI ASQ Award marks the eight consecutive years of Global Top 3 ranking by RGIA in its size category, according to a GHIAL release.



The ASQ survey statistics show that Hyderabad Airport has steadily improved its score from 4.4 in 2009 to 4.9 in 2016 (measured on a scale of 1 to 5). To add, Hyderabad Airport is the first airport in India to have been awarded by ACI, The Director General's Roll of Excellence Award in 2014 for consistently earning the top five ranking in its category in the ASQ for five years in a row.

The airport, in the recent past, has introduced several path-breaking innovations including a first-of-its-kind Express Security Check Area for passengers without check-in luggage, new baggage conveyer belt for domestic passengers and so on.
