Maharashtra : Transport busses gone on indefinite strike

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees have gone on indefinite strike starting from midnight. The employees have been demanding higher wages but as their plea went unheard they decided to go on strike.

This strike will hit badly to the commuters who are planing to travel to home during Diwali vacation. The state transport buses reach the most rural locations across the state. There are several villages across the Maharashtra that can be reached only by buses run by the corporation. Around 14,000 State Transport buses will stay off the roads across the state as part of the strike.

The employees are demanding higher wages and implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission.

Union leader Kailash Pandurang Karad said, "We tried speaking to the authorities many times but they did not listen to us. We understand its festival time but even we have to run our families and this strike is our last resort."
