Telangana Genco surplus Power from floods

Hyderabad Oct 17: The Telangana state Genco has welcomed the unexpected heavy inflow of water into the Jurala and Srisailam projects.Currently, millions of units of hydel power is being generated due to the overflow of water from the projects.The Genco has started selling Surplus electricity.

Currently, 29 million units (MU) hydel power from the two projects is being generated.The average hydel generation at Srisalam project is 11 MU, currently, 21 MU is being generated nearly 8 MU is being generated from both Upper and Lower Jurala projects.

Recently the demand in the state has also come down due to heavy rains and winter season in some parts of the country.Currently, the demand is 139 MU on Oct 15.Currently, the Genco is earning about Rs 4 crore by selling 3-4 MU daily.

Finally, the officials expect that more power would be generated in coming days as the flow has remained steady.
