AP Govt Diwali Holiday

Amravati, Oct 16: The Andhra Pradesh Govt to has changed the Diwali holiday to Oct 19 from Oct 18.The government in the official list of holidays for the year 2017 has earlier declared Oct 18th as the official holiday on Diwali and Oct 17 as the optional holiday.

However many employees, Pandits, and officials have requested the government to change the official holiday from Oct 18 to Oct 19 as they found out that no moon is Observed on 19 and the festival of Diwali would be celebrated on no moon day.

The decision was taken after a proposal was received from the Employees and the government has consulted various pandits and took this decision and a GO has been issued in this regard.

Earlier the Telangana Govt also changed the Diwali holiday date after some objections were raised.
