4 smugglers arrested, 7 tons of Red sander logs seized

Tirupati, Oct 15: The Tirupati and Gajulamandyam police raided a godown of inter-state smuggler S Syed of Chennai at Bangalore on Saturday and arrested four smugglers, including the caretaker of the godown.
Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty said A Naresh (33), son of N Sundar of K Kandriga in Nindra Mandal was arrested on October 11 and 11 red sanders logs weighing 305 kg were seized from him. Maddela Prasad and Kummala Mala Abhishek managed to escape.
On Friday night, Prasad and Abhishek were apprehended at Bommasandra in Bangalore. Based on the information provided by the trio, Tirupati police raided the godown owned by Syed.
As many as 235 red sanders logs weighing about 7.1 tonnes were seized in the raid. L Vignesan, R Periyaswamy, R Balakrishna and M Shankar were arrested in connection with the raid on the godown, the SP said.
