TRS President KCR plans to strengthen his Party

Hyderabad, Oct 14: The Telangana chief minister and TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to stimulate his strategy of 'Operation Akarsh' in order to strengthen his weakening party base in several districts.

According to party sources, KCR has received a feedback from the field level and also from intelligence sources that the people are not happy with the performance of several MLAs and if corrective steps were not taken, the party might lose in their constituencies.

That was precisely why KCR told the party functionaries recently that the TRS could win 50 seats easily and another 30 seats, if some efforts were put.

This was in contrast to his earlier claims that the TRS would win not less than 100 seats. Apparently, the TRS chief has started feeling the anti-incumbency atmosphere prevailing in several constituencies.

In order to overcome it, KCR is now planning to lure some key leaders from the Congress and the TDP by offering good positions and even MLA seats.

Sources said the TRS leadership has sent feelers to leaders like Mukesh Goud, Danam Nagender, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Sampath Kumar and D K Aruna from the Congress, besides leaders like Nama Nageshwar Rao and Mothkupali Narasimhulu from TDP and Sankineni Venkateshwar Rao from BJP.

Some of them have expressed their willingness to join the TRS with a condition that they should be given party tickets in the next elections. However, KCR does not want to go for an aggressive Operation Akarsh, but in a cautious manner.

As the elections approach, there could be a larger inflow of the opposition leaders into the TRS, say sources.
