Economic Advisory Team : Dont deviate from fiscal Roadmap

New Delhi OCT 12: The Economic Council appointed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had held its first meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday. The council has discussed various issues and the chairman Bibek Debroy has briefed the media about the meeting.

Debroy has said that "There is a consensus amongst the members of the EAC that various reasons have contributed to the slowdown of growth rate. Our entire thrust would be on implementable decision.Our views on the ten identified areas would be on specific things that you can change tomorrow"

The committee has decided on following areas such as Monetary policy, job creation, public expenditure, agriculture and animal husbandry.

The Committee has also advised government not to deviate the path of Fiscal roadmap citing economic slowdown.The committee opined that deviating from fiscal consolidation would further damage the country
rather than improving the economy .The government has fixed a target of 3.2 % GDP.The committee would once again meet in November to discuss other issues.

The committee members has the following members economists Surjit Bhalla, Rathin Roy, Ashima Goyal, and Member-Secretary Ratan P Watal and NITI AAYOG Member Bibek Debroy is the chairman.
