At present out of more than 700 crore world population, there are around 60 crore adolescent girls. Usually girls in the age group of 10-19 are termed as adolescents.No doubt, a large number of women in the world are showing their mettle in different fields.Still it is not sufficient. At the initial level it is essential to look into the needs of adolescent girls because they will grow up and bear the responsibility of motherhood.

Especially in our country or for that point in many countries around the globe, girls are not given importance they deserve.For instance, in our country, the wedding age for girls is 18,but in many states people disregard the laws and they are married at 15 or 16 year age. They become mothers by 18 years.The tender age, added to malnutrition, immersed in unorganized hard work, they become easy prey to various ailments.



In India central and state governments are implementing welfare schemes such as "Beti Bachao Beti Padao", marriage gift schemes, delivery cum gift packages for them. Many girls in school health check up are found ailing with malnutrition, anaemia and iron deficiency. Haemoglobin supplements and nutritional food are currently being provided for them under the
Mid day meal Scheme .

There are ought to be proper official machinery, to protect them from the greed of certain parents, which makes them vulnerable to wishes of rich people.Recent rescue episode of Hyderabad girls who were married to Arab sheiks is a practical example.
