Anupam Kher appointed as Chairmain of FTII

Pune Oct 11: In a major revamp, Anupam Kher was appointed as the chairman of Film and Television Institute of India on Wednesday.The actor would replace erstwhile chairman Gajendra Chauhan who took charge in 2015.

Kher was honored with the Padma Shri in 2004 and Padma Bhushan in 2016, and best role for his roles in various movies.

Earlier many people have protested against the appointment of Chauhan citing his movies and his ideological Background.



The appointment assumes significance because recently Prasoon Joshi was appointed as the CBFC chief replacing Phalaj Nilhani who was well known for controversies.

Many People have hailed Smriti Irani the Information and Broadcasting Minister in this regard for trying to revamp the system by appointing well-qualified persons in top posts.
