AP Govt to launch Chandranna Pellikanuka for BCs and SCs

Vijayawada, Oct 11: The Andhra Pradesh State government has been decided to launch another scheme in the name of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, which is titled as 'Chandranna Pellikanuka'.

The scheme is to provide Rs.30,000 to girls for Backward Classes and SCs at the time of the wedding. The amount is likely to be hiked by Rs.5,000 in the near future.

The State Cabinet met under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Tuesday took a decision to this effect. The State government is already extending Rs.50,000 for the marriage of Muslim girls in the name of Dulhan and another scheme for tribal girls.



Earlier, the State government had named the insurance scheme to unorganized sector workers as 'Chandranna Bima' and the gift packs being handed over to Hindus, Muslims, and Christians as 'Chandranna Sankranthi Kanuka', 'Chandranna Ramzan Tofa' and 'Chandranna Christmas gift.

Under the Chandranna Pellikanuka, the State government will extend the financial benefit to one lakh families a year.

Meanwhile, Rs.50,000 will be given to the bride's family under Dulhan and Rs.40,000 to Tribal families under Giri Puthrika Kalyana Pathakam, it will be Rs.30,000 to BCs and STs which might be hiked by Rs.5,000 later.

The 20 percent of the total amount will be given to the family members of the bride before marriage, the remaining 80 percent will be deposited in the bank account of the bride immediately after the marriage.
