NGT asked Delhi Govt to immediately stop spoiling iconic Jantar Mantar

Iconic Jantar Mantar has become a spot for every Dharna and speech event. The National Green Tribunal(NGT) on Thursday asked the Delhi government to stop dharnas, public speeches at Jantar Mantar immediately. NGT banned protests and demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, saying that such activities violate environmental laws.

NGT asked the authorities to shift the Dharna spot from jantar mantar to an alternative site at the Ramleela Grounds in Ajmeri Gate. This verdict was given following a plea filed by one Varun Seth and some other residents of the area. In complaint they said noise pollution is being caused by processions and agitations by different organisations and political parties.
