40 dialysis centers launched soon in Telangana

Hyderabad, Oct 05: The Telangana Health Minister
C Laxma Reddy has announced that the 40 dialysis centers in the State would come up by the end of the month and two of them were already inaugurated.

While inaugurating a dialysis unit at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and also launching a new web portal of the hospital here, the Minister said that the unit equipped here includes 10 new dialysis machines beside 20 old machines and 30 more machines would be installed soon.

"Earlier, 22 machines here were used to treat 3,000 patients per month. As the unit was unable to meet the needs of the patients, the government has released 10 new machines and 30 more machines have been sanctioned", he said.

Appreciating the Nephrology Department, the Minister said that NIMS was performing nearly 30 to 50 transplant surgeries every month and has now become the biggest dialysis unit in the State. He said that the government was ready to give high-end equipment whenever required for providing quality treatment to the patients and all facilities would be modernized.

Reddy called for steps to create public awareness of preventive measures for all types of diseases. Director of NIMS K Manohar, Dean Subash Kaul, Medical Superintendent N Satyanarayana were present on the occasion.
