Singareni Trade Union elections begun today

Kothagudem, Oct 05: The Telangana's prestigious trade union elections of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has begun at 7 Am in 6 districts(JAYASHANKAR BHUPALPALLY, KARIMNAGAR, KHAMMAM, ADILABAD, Mancherial, Warangal) here on Thursday.

About 52,534 coal workers would exercise their votes to elect a recognized trade union and 92 polling booths have been set up across 11 areas in six districts of the coal belt area.

The polling will be ended at 5 pm and results will be declared at 7 pm after counting votes.

There are 15 unions are in the fray, the main fight would be between Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TGBKS), affiliated to TRS, and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), affiliated to another national union such as CPI, supported national trade unions Indian National Trade Union Congress of Congress, Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council of Telugu Desam Party, and Hind Mazdoor Sangh, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Centre of Indian Trade Unions.

TRS has taken the election as a prestigious issue and has left no stone unturned to woo the coal miners to ensure that TGBKS bounces back to power in the Singareni elections.

Meanwhile, CPI and AITUC leaders alleged that TRS union leaders were offering Rs.2,000 to Rs.4,000 to each worker to cast vote in favour of them.

However, TRS MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy condemned the allegations and said that there was no need to distribute the money as employees have faith on KCR.
