India votes in favour of death penality for homosexuals

UNHCR resolution to condemn the death penality for homosexuality was passed by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) after 47 members of the UNHCR voted their opinion.

India and US voted against the UNHCR resolution which states that same-sex partners should not be given death penality. It means India voted in favour of death penality to homosexual couples. India and US were among the 13 nations to do so, other nations who voted against the resolution were Bangaldesh, Botswana, Burundi, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Aarbia, UAE.

Out of the 47 members, 27 voted in favour of the resolution, 13 voted against and 7 abstained from voting.
