Rohingya refugees may get their homes back soon

Myanmar proposed to take back Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh. Bangladesh and Myanmar agreed to set up a working group to coordinate the return of Muslim Rohingya refugees to Myanmar safely. About half a million Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh after the Military crackdown.

Bangladesh’s Foreign minister A H Mahmood Ali today held meeting with a senior representative of Myanmar’s civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

“Myanmar has proposed to take back the Rohingyas from Bangladesh,” Ali told.

Ali said the meeting was in a peaceful manner and Bangladesh gave a proposed agreement for the smooth repatriation of refugees and even suggested Annan Commission report for peaceful resolution of the crisis.

He said “the process has started” but said Bangladesh’s Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan would “soon visit Myanmar to discuss the issue”.
