China and India; Hand-in-Hand annual exercise cancelled

'Hand-in-Hand' is the annual exercise between India and China that takes place every year for confidence-building measure between the two Asian giants and their armies.It started in the year 2007.

The Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will Participate every year in this exercise and the venue will be India and China alternatively each year.

In this exercise, Indian and Chinese troops simulate various counter-terrorism scenario. India wrote to China in March 2017, wanting to start the initial planning process but there has been no response from opposite side. Few days later after writing to China, the Doklam stand-off began where India and Chinese troops faced each other over two-and-a-half months in Bhutan, clouding the atmosphere. "It takes a lot of time to prepare for such exercises. The window for conducting the exercise is no longer available", said a senior officer
