Army killed Naga rebels in encounter along Myanmar border

Naga rebels groups attacked an Indian Army column that was moving along the Indo-Myanmar border.THe army, in response to the attack, rained heavy fire on NSCN(K) cadre.

Army said that large number of Naga rebels were killed, and assured that there are no casualties among Indian Army soldiers. This incident took place at 4.45 am and the operation was not a 'surgical strike' the Army essentially said. Indian Army didn't cross international border.

Following the attack, the Army responded with "heavy retaliatory fire" inflicting a "large number of casualties" among the insurgents, the Eastern Command said.

The Army reiterated that no troops had been killed in the operation.
