Temple Priest arrested for molesting woman in pretext of Ritual

Hyderabad, Sept 26: The Police have registered a case was a temple priest, who is the president of Datta Peetham Asramam at Nacharam for allegedly trying to molest a woman in the pretext of performing a ritual on Monday.

The information reported that the victim Madhuri(45) resides at Raja Ratna residency at HMT Nagar near Nacharam with her husband Prakash Goud and son. The couple met the baba Sriram Sharma(40) at the Kanakadurga temple, Basheerbagh and told him about their financial crisis.

The baba asked Madhuri to perform a pooja for which he collected a huge amount of money from them. He also asked her to keep away her husband and children from pooja.

On September 14, Sharma went to the woman's house where he asked Madhuri's husband Prakash and children to stay away from the house until the ritual is over. After they went outside, the baba tried to molest the woman in the pretext of the pooja. However, the woman raised an alarm, following which her husband and son came to her rescue.

Based on a complaint filed by the couple, the police registered a case on Monday as the baba has contacts with influential politicians. Meanwhile, Sriram Sharma denied the allegations and said it was an attempt to tarnish his image.

Sriram Sharma gave several sermons on spirituality over different TV channels.
